Talla baja
terapéuticas disponiblesGrowth is the most characteristic physiological process
of the pediatric age. Although adult stature and age
at which this is reached are genetically determined
in each subject, the final result may vary according to
the complex interaction of genetic and environmental
factors over the growth period. Short stature causes
concern for the parents and is a very frequent cause for
consultation in Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology.
However, in most of the cases, this is due to normal
variants of short stature which, except for adequate
information, do not require treatment. Knowledge of the
normal characteristics of the growth and of the factors
involved in its regulation in the different periods of
life is an essential condition to be able to evaluate the
normality or abnormality in the growth of a child. In this
review, an attempt is made to give a simple summary
of the basic features which, from a community setting,
allow the pediatrician to: 1) evaluate if the growth of
a child is normal or not; 2) know the causes that most
often may cause its alteration; 3) know how to orient
the diagnosis and when to send the patient to the
specialist (based on the clinical history, bone age and,
in some cases, on a reduced number of easily available
complementary tests); and 4) know the available
therapeutic option

The publication of press releases as journalistic information. Comparative study of two Spanish newspapers
Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version
CEDEL2: Design, compilation and web interface of an online corpus for L2 Spanish acquisition research

acquisition (SLA), CEDEL2 (Corpus Escrito del Español L2 ‘L2 Spanish Written Corpus’), and its
free online search-engine interface (cedel2.learnercorpora.com). CEDEL2 is a multi-first-language
corpus (Spanish, English, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Italian, French, Greek, Russian, Japanese,
Chinese, and Arabic) of L2 Spanish learners at all proficiency levels. It additionally contains
several native control subcorpora (English, Portuguese, Greek, Japanese, and Arabic). Its latest
release (version 2) holds material from around 4,400 speakers, which amounts to over 1,100,000
words. CEDEL2 follows strict corpus-design criteria (Sinclair, 2005) and L2 corpus-design
recommendations (Tracy-Ventura and Paquot, 2021), and all subcorpora are equally designed to
be fully contrastable, as recommended by Contrastive Interlanguage Analysis (Granger, 2015).
Thanks to its design and web interface, CEDEL2 allows for complex searches which can be further
narrowed down according to its SLA-motivated variables, e.g. first language (L1), proficiency
level, self-reported proficiency level, age of onset to the L2, length of exposure to the L2, length
of residence in a Spanish-speaking country, knowledge of other foreign languages, type of task,
etc. These CEDEL2 features allow L2 researchers to address SLA questions and hypotheses.FFI2016-

Environment, innovation and productivity: application of a CDM model to the spanish service sector
The main aim of this study is to determine the impact of innovation on productivity in service sector companies — especially those in the hospitality sector — that value the reduction of environmental impact as relevant to the innovation process. We used a structural analysis model based on the one developed by Crépon, Duguet, and Mairesse (1998). This model is known as the CDM model (an acronym of the authors’ surnames). These authors developed seminal studies in the field of the relationships between innovation and productivity (Griliches 1979; Pakes and Grilliches 1980). The main advantage of the CDM model is its ability to integrate the process of innovation and business productivity from an empirical perspective.Universidad de Málaga. Environmental concern in tourism from a cross-national perspective
This paper analyzes how tourist from European countries consider environmental issues when making decisions about their their holiday plans. Modelling these decisions is a challenge because environmental concerns depends on both individiual characteristics and contextul factors related to the country or residence, such as cultural, social and economic condictions. For that reason, environmental support by households exhibit a particular type of grouped structure, where individual, firs level, are nested into countries, second level. This hierarchical structure of date are dealed with a multilevel aproach. The estimates from a Two-Level Random Intercept Logistic Model and the post-estimation analysis demonstrate that the effects of country vary randomly, and that there is significant variance in the level of tourists´ environmental support within and between countries.Universidad de Málaga. Molybdenum-catalyzed enantioselective sulfoxidation controlled by a nonclassical hydrogen bond between coordinated chiral imidazolium-based dicarboxylate and peroxido ligands
Chiral alkyl aryl sulfoxides were obtained by molybdenum-catalyzed oxidation of alkyl aryl sulfides with hydrogen peroxide as oxidant in mild conditions with high yields and moderate enantioselectivities. The asymmetry is generated by the use of imidazolium-based dicarboxylic compounds, HLR. The in-situ-generated catalyst, a mixture of aqueous [Mo(O)(O2)2(H2O)n] with HLR as chirality inductors, in the presence of [PPh4]Br, was identified as the anionic binuclear complex [PPh4]{[Mo(O)(O2)2(H2O)]2( -LR)}, according to spectroscopic data and Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations. A nonclassical hydrogen bond between one C–H bond of the alkyl R group of coordinated (LR)- and one oxygen atom of the peroxido ligand was identified as the interaction responsible for the asymmetry in the process. Additionally, the step that governs the enantioselectivity was theoretically analyzed by locating the transition states of the oxido-transfer to PhMeS of model complexes [Mo(O)(O2)2(H2O)( 1-O-LR)]- (R = H, iPr). The DDG6= is ca. 0 kcal mol-1 for R = H, racemic sulfoxide, meanwhile for chiral species the DDG6= of ca. 2 kcal mol-1 favors the formation of (R)-sulfoxide.Junta de Andalucía (Proyecto de Excelencia FQM-7079)Universidad de Sevilla (VI Plan Propio
A functional approach to the ecology of Atlantic Basque streams
Most research on stream ecology is focused on structural characteristics of stream ecosystems, while less effort is being dedicated to the study of their functional attributes. The laboratory of stream ecology, at the University of the Basque Country, has been researching streams from an ecosystem perspective, including both structural and functional properties. Here we review the research done so far. Basque streams running to the Atlantic Ocean are short, steep, and flashy, and tend to show large spatial variations as a result of changes in geology and soil use. Where they exist, riparian forests limit the growth of primary producers and are a source of coarse particulate organic matter, an important food resource for consumers. The trophic structure of benthic macroinvertebrate communities changes downstream with resource abundance, although temporal variations of both resources and consumers are not coupled. Gut content analyses show the diet of some species to change with instar development, and thus, warn against the indiscriminate assignation of trophic categories. Floods are important disturbances, affecting primary producers, consumers, and ecosystem processes. Other important disturbances are changes in riparian vegetation, which can profoundly affect the food resources of stream communities. This basic knowledge has been used to develop new tools to assess stream functional impairment, based in two pivotal functions: litter breakdown and whole stream metabolism. Both eutrophication and changes in riparian vegetation affect the use of leaf litter, and thus impact stream functioning making litter breakdown a promising tool for stream monitoring. On the other hand, whole stream metabolism is affected by many human impacts, and can be measured continuously in modern gauging stations, thus allowing for almost real-time monitoring of ecosystem functioning. We hope these and other functional properties will be built into routine monitoring schemes, which will therefore look at both the structural and functional sides of stream ecosystems.
Effect of labour flexibility on productivity in the andalusian hotel industry
In this work, we analyze the effect of labour flexibility on productivity in the Andalusian hotel industry. For this purpose, we use the data obtained by the Quality, Productivity and Competitiveness in the Hospitality Industry for Andalusia project (PO7/SEJ-02889). Using a expanded version of the Cobb-Douglas production function, the model distinguishes two employment shares: full-time permanent (standard work) and temporary plus part-time employees (non-standard work). Our results indicate that productivity in Andalusian hotels is lower the higher the percentage of temporary and part-time workers. Furthermore, there are no statistically significant differences between the negative impact on productivity of both types of labour contract. However, since the costs associated with both temporary and part-time workers are lower than those of workers with full-time permanent contracts, future studies should analyze the differential impact of all the types of contracts discussed on the mean cost per employee in hotels.Universidad de Málaga.
